The AI assistant — what to expect

The assistant can be wrong. It reads your timetable, tasks and reminders to answer questions and to draft entries. Like any language model it can misread a date, invent detail that sounds plausible, or answer confidently about something it did not actually check. Treat what it tells you as a draft to look over, never as the record.

Check anything that matters before you rely on it. If a suggestion concerns a class, an exam, a deadline or a meeting with other people, confirm it against your own timetable. This application is not a substitute for your institution's official schedule, and where the two disagree, your institution's is the one that counts.

Nothing is changed without you confirming it. When the assistant understands a request as a change — adding a class, moving one, deleting one — it shows you what it understood and waits. You confirm or discard it. The assistant is not able to write to your schedule on its own, and the question-answering side of it can only read.

Your text is sent to an AI provider. To answer you, what you type is sent to a third-party model provider, together with the parts of your timetable, tasks and reminders needed to answer it — event titles and times, your working hours and your timezone. It is sent over an encrypted connection and is not used to advertise to you. It does leave this application, so please do not type anything into the assistant that you would not be willing to send to a third party: student names, personal details about colleagues, or anything confidential.

You can avoid it entirely. Every part of ProfSchedule works without the assistant. If you never open it, nothing of yours is sent to a model provider.

Your account

You are responsible for what happens under your account, and for keeping your password to yourself. Please use a real institutional email address, since colleagues will identify you by it when working together. Tell us if you think someone else has got into your account.

Accounts belong to people, not to roles. Do not share one between colleagues: the schedule, the reminders and the work assignments are all built around a single person's day.

Your data

Your schedule, tasks, reminders and profile are stored so the application can show them back to you. Colleagues in a shared community can see the work you share with them there — that is the point of it — and administrators of your college can see the members of their own college. Nobody else can read your personal timetable.

You can delete your account, and doing so removes your schedule, tasks and reminders with it. Backups may keep a copy for a short period before they roll over.

Advertising

This application shows advertisements supplied by Google AdSense. Google and its partners set cookies in your browser and use them to choose which advertisements to show you, which may take account of your previous browsing on other sites. That is a third party operating in your browser, and it is separate from everything described above about your schedule.

Your timetable is not given to advertisers. Your events, tasks, reminders, colleagues and the things you type into the assistant are not shared with Google’s advertising systems, and are not used to target advertisements at you. What advertisers receive is what any site with ads on it passes on: your browser, your approximate location and the page you are on.

You can review and change what Google uses at myadcenter.google.com, and browser settings or an ad blocker will stop the advertisements loading without affecting anything else here.

Availability

This is a working application, not a guaranteed service. It may be unavailable while it is being updated, and reminders depend on your device, your browser and your network as much as on us. Do not rely on a reminder from this application as your only warning for something you cannot afford to miss.

Reasonable use

Please do not attempt to reach other people's data, disrupt the service for others, or use the assistant to generate anything unlawful or abusive. Accounts doing so may be suspended.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that matters, you will be asked to read and agree to the new version the next time you sign in. The version you agreed to is recorded against your account.
